The Leaedership Advisory Board works with the Extension Agent to plan, implement, evaluate and interpret the local educational Extension program. The overall effectiveness of a county's Extension program depends on how well local citizens are involved in all aspects of program development.

Interesting Facts about Goliad

  • Goliad County is rich in Texas and Mexican History.
  • Goliad County was organized in 1837. The county was named after the town and is known as the birthplace of Texas Ranching.
  • Goliad is one of the three oldest municipalities in Texas. In 1749 the Spanish government transferred the Mission Espiritu Santo, its royal protector, and Presidio La Bahia from their site on the Guadalupe River to a site of an Aranama Indian village on the San Antonio River named Santa Dorotea. A small village called La Bahia grew up around the walls of the Presidio La Bahia.
